BRITTANY MURPHY has been compensated for losing out on a role in the big screen version
of CHICAGO - with the promise of a part in the current Broadway revival of CABARET.
The RIDING IN CARS WITH BOYS star was devastated when she failed to get a part in
the movie, which will star Catherine Zeta-Jones and Renee Zellweger.
Brittany says, "MIRAMAX had three meetings with me about playing one of the leads in
the film version of Chicago.
"I wanted that role desperately. It's been a dream of mine for years, but I was the
wrong age."
But she continues, "The producers of Chicago are the producers behind the current
Broadway revival of CABARET. They've offered me a six-month run in New York as soon as
I can work it into my schedule."
