Summer 2001

Great Brittany

If you haven't had the pleasure, meet Brittany Murphy. She has been around - she played Alicia Sliverstone's protégé in Clueless, and the chicken-eating molestation victim in Girl, Interrupted, and the lead in last year's deliciously off-center Cherry Falls. But if she's been cruising under your radar, that will certainly change this summer.
She stands out as the love-troubled waitress in Edward Burns' Sidewalks of New York (along with Heather Graham and Stanley Tucci), scheduled to reach theaters in July. You'll also be able to see her in this October starring with Drew Barrymore in Penny Marshall's Riding in Cars with Boys.
As we speak, she's at work opposite Michael Douglas in the thriller, Don't Say a Word.
Her career is on fire, and as you can see from this spread, she's certainly got flare.
