Leaving Clueless' refurbished flake behind, Murphy appears as a beauty-pageant contestant in July's Drop Dead Gorgeous, a laxative-obsessed neurotic in October's Girl Interrupted, and a virgin hunted by a serial killer in this winter's Cherry Falls.

But her biggest makeover will be as Janis Joplin in the upcoming biopic--she scored the audition after the casting director saw her sing at a wedding.
